In early 2017 Escape was living in a feral colony in a field next to a busy street. When a new property owner purchased an adjacent building with plans for a food production plant he told the colony’s caretaker Maylin that the cats would have to leave or face hostile conditions. Distressed, Marylin reached out to Copper’s Cat Commune and offered to build an enclosure and help maintain the cats if the Commune would provide her colony safe haven. Mimi sprang into action and Marylin’s ferals were swiftly trapped, fixed, and relocated to the brand new enclosure. And Escape? Well she escaped. We trapped her, and she escaped again. And again earning her name. Escape is simply too savvy and continues to live on her own terms outside the enclosures but always in the Commune yard. Now after years at the Commune she has warmed up to people she sees regularly and will sometimes even accept pets.
