Aries Remembrance Fund, Goal $2000
Everyone deserves to live their best life. It’s our mantra here at the Commune.
We never know what tomorrow will bring for our furry friends but as Mimi thought when she met Aries “if he was only going to survive one more night, he’d at least be loved.”
Aries’ life was tough; a kitten on the streets of Houston who couldn’t walk with two fractured back legs and a list of concerns so severe that euthanasia was recommended. Despite grave concerns Mimi was certain he deserved one night of love. And he was loved. He not only made it through that first long, uncertain night, he thrived at the Commune for six and a half more years, a cat who most people would not have given a second night.
Back in 2016 Mimi’s love for Aries brought him through those first terrible nights and brought Copper’s Cat Commune into existence. Today the Commune provides safe shelter for 112 cats with a variety of medical and behavioral needs including Aries’ legacy: four paraplegic cats living their best lives.
Jason, who went on an unplanned adventure and lost the use of his rear legs left the only home he had ever known for the dedicated care of the Commune. Tonks - whose life was changed by the misstep of a toddler - found a home where she is never in the way. And for Hiccup and Butterscotch Lollipop, two kittens each born different from their littermates, the Commune was the only place where they ever had a chance.
Thanks to Aries, thanks to Mimi, thanks to the Commune, thanks to You these cats are thriving rather than just surviving. Today you can give them another day of gentle care, another morning with a full belly, another afternoon of sunbeams, another night of love.
